Presto Change-O!!

BEFORE: ugly old cabinet

AFTER: much better looking cabinet

Wyatt's new toy cabinet

Looks pretty good!!

This ugly old cabinet (in picture 1) was left in our house when we moved in. I'm not sure what they were going to do with it, or where they were going to put it, but... We have lived in our house for almost 3 years and I just recently found it! Freemon and I tend to store a bunch of junk (minus my car) in our garage and as he was cleaning it out one weekend (good hubby) , he came across this shelf. I had been looking for something to put some of Wyatt's toys and books on that he could actually reach and pull stuff out himself. My wonderful hubby was actually listening and paying attention as I was talking about this and man am I glad!! Since I have cut back to working part time, I have learned how to pinch the pennies and it definitely puts a crimp in the decorating of the house business. BUT...it is definitely worth it! I LOVE spending my time with Wyatt!! I wish that I were able to stay home with him full-time, but that's another story. So, on my days off Wyatt and I have had some great times scouring garage sales, consignment shops and heck, even our garage.

I have seen so many people that are so crafty and I have always had the longing to become one of those and now maybe I am!! My next project is Wyatt's bathroom! I have been gathering things here and there since our trip to Galveston on Labor day wknd. I am going to do his bathroom in oceany stuff. I have already gathered some shells from Galveston beach, a fish hand towel and and cute yellow octopus soap dispenser from Target (which, by the way were on clearance, yay) a couple more shells from Oops and my mom had the perfect shower curtain just waiting for us!! I want to sponge paint the bathroom a bluish color and when its done I will definitely post pics!

Anyway, my sweet boy has had his bath and now its time for a book and night-night time. Hope you have a great evening

Bikes, Blues and BBQ 2009

No, thanks, I'll walk!

Dickson Street

Dickson Street

Daddy and Wyatt

So...we ventured down to Dickson Street yesterday afternoon to see what all the hype was all about. We wanted to watch the parade but only caught the tail end due to the Hog game (what a disappointment). Anyway, we borrowed a backpack carrier from one of the Doctors that I work for and boy was it a lifesaver! Thanks Sarah and Jeffrey!! We got a lot of looks, mostly from parents who were brave enough to bring a stroller down there and people just kept saying, what a great idea! Wyatt had a blast, he loved looking at all the motorcycles and doing some people watching. I wasn't sure if the revving of the engines would scare him or not, but it didn't seem to bother him. As for Freemon and myself, we both agreed that it wasn't as fun as it used to be. Was it because we weren't hanging in the beer garden the ENTIRE time or was it maybe because now that we have a family we realize that a friggin corndog, cotton candy (both my favorites) some BBQ and a soda shouldn't cost a fortune?! Whatever it was, we stayed down there for about an hour and then decided to save our hard earned cash and go eat at our favorite mexican restaurant in Elkins, Rio Grande!

We live right off of Highway 16, so we get to hear the motorcyles roar in and roar out. It was funny, last night we were laying in bed around 11 ish and Freemon said, "you hear that?" We could hear the roar of motorcyles from who knows where. He said that our house is about 14 miles from his work (down on 6th st) and he thought maybe that was some of the noise from Dickson!! I don't know about that...but boy were they loud! I am happy to have the bikers here to help boost our economy, but I am happy to see them go too! I know that not all bikers are rude, but this one particular FAT biker chic yesterday bumped into me and I just looked at her and a few seconds later she says in a rude voice, "well, excuse me!" I guess she didn't realize the 6'4" guy standing right next to me was my husband, and he could have put the hurt on her! lol Anyways, all in all it was a nice time, good to get out of the house and a great experience for Wyatt.

Well, better get ready for some football. Freemon's beloved Packers are playing today, my Titans are playing and my brother Trey's 49 ers are playing too...so hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday afternoon! Maybe I can catch a quick nap while my boys watch football!!

All about us

Freemon and I were married on March 25, 2006 and here we are almost 4 years later!! Freemon works for Fayetteville Public Schools as a diesel mechanic and I work part time at Ozark Surgical Associates as a nurse. We bought a house in Elkins, Arkansas in June of 2007 and have been living here ever since. Our life took a dramatic and wonderful change in February of 2008 when we found out that we were expecting a baby! We started "trying" around Christmas time and before we knew it, we had an instant family!! Wyatt Logan Hafen came into our lives on November 7, 2008, weighing in at an atonishing 9 lbs and 21 inches long. I think Freemon and I will both agree that that was the best day of our lives (other than our wedding) Since last November, time has flown by! Wyatt is coming up on the big 1 year birthday and it breaks my heart that he isn't a "baby" anymore, but on the other hand I am having so much fun watching and helping him with all his firsts. He started crawling the beginning of this month, and man does he go. I think he can round the entire house in about 10 seconds flat, lol.

We also have 2 female German Rottweilers that are probably two of the best dogs ever. Kenzie is almost 10 years old and Dixie just turned 4. Kenzie pretty much ignores Wyatt, but Dixie is in love with him. She thinks it is an absolute blast that we got someone to play with her. Wyatt loves to get into the dog toys and Dixie just waits there patiently for him to throw the ball or do something so that she can get in on the action.

Well this is a short post, we are getting ready to watch the Razorback game and then head down to Dickson street for the annual Bikes, Blues and BBQ parade. I will post some about that later. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

Trying it out

Since Freemon and I have family all over (Virginia, Wisconsin, etc...) I decided to make this blog so that our friends and extended family could follow what is going on with us! So....be patient with me and here it goes!
